A treatment offers fast and lasting relief from pain and discomfort and a return to balance and harmony in the body.
The Bowen technique is a 'Hands-on' - 'Hands-off' treatment. A treatment application comprises of small but precise moves on specific points of the body using thumbs or fingers, rolling over soft tissue-muscle-tendon-ligaments.
There is NO forceful manipulation, just a gentle cross fibre maneuvering of a muscle, tendon or ligament. Various amounts of pressures are applied depending on the location and needs of the client. In between each set of moves, there are short delays incorporated to allow the body to effectively respond. The location of the moves are dependent on the needs of the client and are extremely relaxing and gentle; the treatment can be performed through light loose fitting clothing.
Bowen is not an ongoing therapy. Substantial relief is frequently attained after the first session, with most people requiring only 2 to 4 treatments to resolve their presenting problem. Except in the case of chronic illness or repeat injury. It is reported that Bowen improves range of movement, flexibility and postural alignment and is known to improve muscle function for sports performance.

After Treatment Care
After your Bowen treatment, it is strongly advised that you do not have any other physical therapy or other forms of manipulation - such as massage, Chiropractic, Physiotherapy, Acupuncture or Kinesiology for up to one week after the treatment. These things may undo the balance achieved through your Bowen treatment.
Your body will continue the corrective healing process for up to 7 days following your session.
For the first week after your treatment, it is advised that you;-
~ Avoid excessive heat or cold to areas that have been treated - e.g. do not stand under the shower with hot
water directed at your neck or back.
~ Stop using an electric blanket or hot water bottle
~ Have lukewarm, not hot baths
~ Avoid sitting for any longer than 30 minutes at a time on the day of your visit
~ Increase your intake of water consumption as is comfortable to help flush and eliminate the toxins and waste
from your body
On rare occasions, reactions may be experienced from hot and cold flushes, emotional releases, headaches and body aches or just feeling a little 'flat'. These reactions are a positive sign that the healing process is working and will generally subside within the first 24 hours. Each person responds differently at differing rates and to different degrees.
You will respond according to your body's ability to heal.
